Trump has initiated a nationwide temper tantrum for overgrown children throughout the land. He has worked the none-too-latent paranoia nerve that has been poked and prodded for decades now by a legion of fear mongers on TV and radio, scaring the kiddies about how their toys are going to be taken from them, and Christmas, too, all by "radical socialist Democrats" who want to destroy everything they love, and make them work while the darker peoples just loll around laughing at them all day, every day, insulting them in Spanish. They are holding their breath, but not until they turn blue; they're holding their breath until they are about to explode. And, speaking of explosions, they are, quite literally, playing with dynamite. Can we doubt that the bombs will begin going off, if not soon, then not too far into the coming new year.
If they were children, they'd be sent to their rooms without supper.
If they were children, they would be denied privileges until or unless they learned to behave.
If they were children, they would bring shame to their parents. And, if their parents are among those disappearing few who fought fascism during World War II, it's likely they have shamed their folks, or the memory of those who are no longer alive.
But they are not children. They are full grown men and women who are acting like children, insisting on having their own way, behaving very badly, jeopardizing the health of their neighbors and fellow citizens by flagrantly and belligerently not wearing masks during a pandemic. They are acting as though the only thing that matters is being able to do exactly as they please. If they were drunk, they would be insisting that they are Americans and should be able to drive when they want, where they want, no matter the condition they are in, no matter how impaired they are.
They are children, and the only thing that matters is "me, me, me."
They threaten to kidnap and rape the governor of Michigan.
They talk about freedom, but it is a child's concept of freedom they claim, freedom without responsibility, freedom as an absolute.
They behave like schoolyard bullies, appearing outside the homes of community leaders or public sector workers, sometimes wearing guns that are not toys, trying to intimidate, or terrorize, or impose their tantrum-like demands on others.
They like the word "militia," but they are not militias. They are terrorists.
They do not act at all the way we once expected adults to act.
If they were children, we would surely take dangerous toys from them before they hurt themselves or someone else.
As we see them behaving like children, it is difficult not to think their parents neglected to bring them up right.
Worse yet, their behavior seems to be modeled after the behavior of the most powerful men in the country, from the bloated, petulant, and temperamental brat in the White House to the delinquent leader of the Senate, as irresponsible a child as we are ever likely to encounter.
If they were children, their parents could be charged for the damage they do. But they are not children.
If they were children, they would be charged with vandalism. They are breaking things, threatening the very foundations of the house we all live in.
Like children, they don't seem to know very much, don't know what adults need to know to be functioning adults in a functional society.
Like children, they are very, very frightened. They'd like to be allowed to crawl into bed with the adults, but they can't seem to find adults anywhere. They have been read too many very bad fairy tales by too many ugly and greedy oversized children. And now the liberals want to take away their father figure, the man who was sent by God to protect them from all harm. And they simply won't let that happen. They will pitch a fit. Frightened children with automatic weapons, sympathetic and encouraging politicians, and an often-approving constabulary can make one helluva mess.
And far too many of these out-of-control brats intend to do that very thing.

Damned, they are a terrible, sorry, unruley lot, all 340 million of them.
Well, if all goes as planned, Democrats will soon be in power.
So, LET THE BEATINGS BEGIN.
Jerk their privileges and rights. They're too "spoiled and lazy."
Scream at them to "shut the fuck up"
Slap the ones who get mouthy and "talk back" really hard (Snowdens).
Send them to long-term detention, locked in their rooms (over 2 million in prisons).
Restrict their friendships with the neighbor kids. (approval for travel and associations with the neighbor foreigners)
Give them lots of chores (underpaid and unpaid work) to keep them busy and out of trouble.
Censor their entertainments, and their information so they will not get wrong, disruptive ideas and become trouble makers as they grow into adulthood.
Pressure them to join approved clubs and go to camp and put them them in hard competitions (military, and endless wars) to make serious community-minded men and women out of them.
That'll take care of their unruly independence and selfishness.

Sounds like a plan.
Just like the abusive redneck family down the road where Bubba slaps his wife and kids around and beats them down into fearful submission, while he drinks as much as he likes and has his whole clan serving his every whim. But, ask Bubba, and he will tell you that he is doing it for their own good and because he "loves them."
