    Confirmed: Birmingham Newspaper

UPDATE: Siegelman to be released from prison Friday

MONTGOMERY -- A federal appellate court today ordered former Gov. Don Siegelman released from prison while he appeals his 2006 conviction, saying there are "substantial questions" about his case.

    Awesome!

    The Disappointment on the Right

Republican Party Responds to Siegelman Release

Birmingham, AL - The Alabama Republican Party is disappointed in today's ruling by the 11th Circuit Court and their decision to release former Governor Don Siegelman pending his appeal of the 6 counts of bribery and the 1 count of obstruction for which he was convicted.

Representative Mike Hubbard (R-Auburn), Chairman of the Alabama Republican Party stated "the former Governor's release pending appeal does not change the conviction by a jury of his peers. It would be premature to turn this development into anything other than a formality."

    Criminal bastards.

Let's see what comes out of the "formality" of testifying on Capitol Hill about the nefarious bullshit that landed him in prison.

    Roll, Don!

Here's one native Alabamian who cheered this morning.

Screw the Alabama Republican Party. Of course it doesn't erase his conviction. What scares the shit out of them is the fact he'll be able to "tell the world" through the Congressional hearings.
